You know why I think Rumplestiltskin had that tension with Ella?
Not because he’s thinking of Belle and how she should be in Ella’s position, but because of what Ella so willingly signed away. Her child. She was so shallow that she didn’t even bother to think about something more special than any jewels or riches when she made that deal with him. I think he mocks her, because he’s disgusted with her. He’s a man who has spent God knows how many centuries fighting to get his son back. And here, we have this pretty, sweet girl, with so much potential, that if she had just TRIED, just FOUGHT hard enough, she could have become Princess with help from no one, but she takes the easy path. She willingly signs away the most precious thing Rumplestiltskin can think of, her child. That’s why he has that tension with her at her wedding. There is no Belle in this equation. At least not for me.
I personally see no potential in Ella, but I think what Meta said is also the reason why he dislikes her. And I think that both versions are big enough on their own but combined it makes the big stir.
